BAND BIO

In early 2015, after years of playing in numerous successful bands in Ohio, guitarist Shannon Smith felt the calling once again to the altar of rock and roll. It was then he decided to build the ultimate rocking party band and was determined to find just the right member to fill each position, starting with the singer. Shannon knew that the vocalist not only had to be a great front man with the voice of an angel, but he also had to be charismatic, charming, personable, a little overweight, but still be easy on the eyes. Immediately he thought of Mike Skite.

Skite had played in some great Ohio bands. One particular stand-out show was a double-bill featuring Mike Skite’s MOTHER TRUCKER and Shannon Smith’s ONE7ONE. Once Skite saw Shannon’s perfectly styled hair and heard the magic coming out of his Gibson Les Paul, the two met and became fast friends. Over the years they stayed in touch through their love of rock music and abstract finger painting.

The next thing the the two rockers needed was a kick-ass drummer. They pondered for a while until Skite remembered the legend of a drummer from far-away on the west side of Columbus from the band LEVELED. It was said this drummer could play with both complete precision and reckless abandon and that he sometimes played so hard and fast that drumsticks would fly right out of his hands, as far as the eye could see. The legend also spoke of this drummer being adorable and kind, yet easy to get along with and on time.

“Surely, this can’t be true!” exclaimed Skite.

“Oh, but it is!” said Shannon. “I know of this drummer you speak of and his name is David Ziglar.”

Once Zig, as he liked to be called, was united with Shannon and Skite, the magic started to happen. However, there was one more essential piece to the puzzle. After all, what was the point of having a fabulous drummer without a fantastic bass player? The search was on for a dashing, energetic and thunderous bassist. Zig suggested that it would be nice if the bass man also resembled Jesus, only slightly dirtier. Shannon and Skite agreed.

Shannon claimed to have the perfect guy in mind; an old bandmate of his from the band CHILLIN SUN, fronted by the late, renowned Kenny Kanowski. They contacted Robert Durosko who agreed to meet them at 6:30 that night.

Well, 6:30 came and went. Just then, rolling up to the rehearsal space at 7:15, Bob emerged through a fine mist of fog on his Harley-Davidson, bass guitar strapped to his back. He was pulling a trailer with an Ampeg bass cabinet on it and his long, manly hair blowing in the breeze. It was a majestic sight to say the least!

It only took playing one song together for the guys to know that this was it; the perfect combination to create the world’s greatest rocking party band. On that day in April of 2015, RED LIGHT GO was born.
