TOLEDO – Toledo reliever Keider Montero kept the Clippers off the scoreboard until the seventh inning and the Mud Hens beat Columbus 5-1 Friday night.
The right-hander (4-2) took over for starter Sean Montero in the second inning of a scoreless game,
recorded nine strikeouts and allowed only four Clippers on base in his six innings of work.
The only run he gave up was George Valera’s solo home run in the seventh inning.
Clippers starter Daniel Norris (4-5) gave up all of the Mud Hens’ runs in his 3 2/3 innings on the mound, including Colt Keith’s two-run homer in the fourth.
The Clippers have lost three of the first four games in the six-game series at Fifth Third Field.
