TOLEDO – Colt Keith hit a two-run home run in and Toledo pitchers threw 17 strikeouts in the Mud Hens’ 4-1 win over the Clippers Friday night at Fifth Third Field.
The teams waited out a rain delay of over an hour before retaking the field in the sixth and Keith drove the first pitch he saw from Cody Morris (2-1) 384 feet into the right field seats.
Columbus cut the lead to 2-1 with no outs in the seventh when Angel Martinez took home on a stolen base by Reynal Delgado and a throwing error by Mud Hens catcher Michael Papierski.
Delgado advanced to third on the bad throw but Aneurys Zabala (7-2) struck out the next three hitters to end the threat and Miguel Diaz retired the side in the ninth for his 12th save of the season.
