COLUMBUS – One person was killed in a tractor-trailer accident that shut down part of a southern Franklin County interstate for several hours Friday afternoon.
A 2020 International truck southbound on I-71 near Orient went off the right side of the roadway south of Lambert Road, striking a tree and rolling over in a ditch just before 3:00 p.m., Sheriff Dallas Baldwin said.
The passenger in the truck was pronounced deceased at the scene while the driver was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition.
Franklin County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Pleasant Township and Jackson Township Fire Department personnel responded to the scene
Identification of both victims was being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin, Baldwin said.
