COLUMBUS – Columbus police faced another busy weekend, with nine people shot, three of them fatally, in seven separate incidents, including a 14-year-old boy who died after being shot while riding a scooter on a Franklinton street early Friday.
One man was shot to death and another was injured at the Story Lounge, 1420 E. 5th Avenue just after 2:00 a.m. Sunday. Dalan Wellman, 21, and Saidou Sarr, 19, were found in the area of E. 5th Avenue and Joyce Avenue and taken to Grant Medical Center in “extremely critical condition” and Wellman died of his injuries there on Sunday Sgt. Eric Pilya of the Homicide Unit said.
He was the 74th homicide victim of the year in Columbus.
A 23-year-old man died after being shot in North Linden Friday afternoon. Officers called to the area of 2629 Audubon Road just after 2:00 p.m. found Devontay Stanton suffering from several gunshot wounds. He died later at Grant Medical Center, according to Sgt. James Marable of the Homicide Unit.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation, Marable said.

A 24-year-old man walked into St. Ann’s Hospital after he said he was shot while sitting in a vehicle at the intersection of E. Weber Rd. and Cleveland avenue just before 1:45 a.m. Saturday.
Officers responded to two more shootings late Sunday and early Monday: A juvenile victim at Mt. Carmel East Hospital reported being shot at approximately 10:40 p.m., and an adult was shot in the 2600 block of E. Main Street at 2:36 a.m. Monday and a 15-year-old in the 500 block of Graham Street at 3:19 a.m.
The victims are in stable condition.
