Authorities working to identify remains found at roadside

COLUMBUS – Columbus police are treating the death of a person whose skeletal remains were found by someone picking up litter on the Northeast Side Thursday night as suspicious.

Police received a call from a person who reported finding skeletal remains while picking up litter from the side of the road in the 3000 block of E. Dublin-Granville Road at approximately 8:00 p.m., according to detectives with the homicide unit.

The circumstances surrounding the death of the person, whose identity and gender were not released, are unknown.

The remains were transported to the Franklin County Coroner’s Office for investigation.
