Buckeyes focus on W. Kentucky before marquee tilt in South Bend

COLUMBUS – The Buckeyes will get another chance to tune up against a lesser opponent when Western Kentucky visits the Horseshoe.

It will get tougher after that as the Buckeyes go to South Bend to play No. 9 Notre Dame on Sept. 23 before embarking on a relentless Big Ten schedule.

Western Kentucky comes in as almost four-touchdown underdogs, but the Hilltoppers could make some noise behind quarterback Austin Reed, who led Division I in passing yards last season and has averaged nearly 300 passing yards in the first two games of 2023.

Ohio State’s new starting quarterback, Kyle McCord, looked better last week but is still trying to find his comfort zone.
