Charges filed in zoo incident

COLUMBUS – A Pataskala man is reportedly facing charges of inducing panic after an incident in the parking lot at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium last Friday that sent visitors running for cover and the exits.

Joseph Solinger, 36, was arrested after the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office said he refused to follow officers’ directions at an accident scene and drove onto the zoo’s parking lot.

Zoo patrons were described as hiding in restrooms and under tables as at least one police officer pulled a weapon while chasing Solinger who was arrested after being tased.

He was charged with nine counts of inducing panic, according to a report by WBNS 10-TV.
