Clippers 5, Mud Hens 3

COLUMBUS – An Eric Haase solo home run gave the Clippers a lead that held up as they won their fourth straight game, 5-3, over the Toledo Mud Hens Tuesday night at Huntington Park.

A two-run double by Yandy Diaz in the fifth inning had given Columbus a 3-1 lead and Haase’s homer to left center field in the sixth inning gave the Clippers enough of a margin that they could withstand an eighth-inning rally by the Mud Hens.

The runs came in time to help starter Stephen Fife (3-4) who was credited with the win while Mud Hens starter Kyle Dowdy (1-1) took the loss despite striking out eight hitters over five innings.

The two teams play the third game of their four-game series Wednesday at 6:35 p.m.
