Clippers 7, Jumbo Shrimp 6

COLUMBUS – Brayan Rocchio hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning to break a 4-4 tie and Columbus closer Nic Enright snuffed out a ninth-inning rally as the Clippers beat the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 7-6 Friday night at Huntington Park.

The Jumbos roughed up Columbus starter Zach Plesac (5-4), who gave up five runs, including solo home runs by Charles Leblanc and Austin Allen in 6 2/3 innings.

The Clippers repeatedly battled back, tying the score on homers by Angel Martinez, David Fry and Bryan Lavastida before Rocchio, recently optioned back to Columbus from Cleveland, sent a 1-0 pitch from Richard Rodriguez (2-1) over the right-center field wall, driving Martinez and Chris Roller in ahead of him.

Enright earned his first save of the season by striking out the last two hitters he faced in the ninth with the tying run on third base.
