Clippers win on Martinez’s walkoff single

COLUMBUS – For the second game in a row, the Clippers came from behind to beat the Omaha Storm Chasers in walkoff fashion.

Columbus was trailing 3-2 in the ninth inning when Angel Martinez delivered the winning RBIs with a two-out bases-loaded single that brought Daniel Schneemann and Juan Brito in to score for a 4-3 win Saturday afternoon at Huntington Park.

The Storm Chasers took a 3-0 lead when Clippers starter Jerad Eickhoff gave up solo home runs to John Rave, Morgan McCullough and Tyler Gentry before the right-hander settled down and allowed only three hits over four innings before turning the game over to Chris Vallimont (4-6).

Johnathan Rodríguez and Martinez drove in runs to cut the lead to 3-2 after six innings.

Dylan Coleman (1-5) took over with two outs and one on in the bottom of the ninth and walked the bases full before giving Martinez’s liner to right field.

The Clippers conclude the series with the Storm Chasers and their regular season Sunday.
