COLUMBUS – A 25-year-old Grove City man died after being struck by two vehicles as he was trying to cross a road in Prairie Township.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says Daniel Bender was on foot when he was hit by a pickup truck just after 11:30 p.m.Friday as he was trying to cross from the southbound side of W. Broad Street to the northbound side east of Norton Road. A second vehicle then hit Bender in the road, Sheriff Dallas Baldwin said.
Authorities say 26-year-old Justin Ault, of Galloway, who was driving the pickup truck, stopped and remained at the scene, while the driver of the other vehicle left the scene.
Bender was taken to Doctor’s West Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The sheriff’s office was searching for the driver of the second vehicle, described as a dark-colored sedan, possible a black Chevrolet Cruz with front-end damage, Baldwin said.
The crash remains under investigation.
