COLUMBUS – Police believe a man who died of gunshot wounds early Wednesday at Riverside Methodist Hospital was linked to earlier reports of gunfire on the Northwest Side but had named no suspects Wednesday morning.
Officers called to the hospital at 11:57 p.m. Tuesday found Khalaf Badez Mohamed being treated for his injuries after being dropped off at the hospital’s emergency department, Homicide Unit Sgt. Jeffrey Strayer said.
Mohamed, 23, was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries at 1:18 a.m.
The initial investigation revealed that there was a report of gunshots near the intersection of Kenny Road and Henderson Road approximately 10 minutes before the victim arrived at the hospital.
Strayer said detectives believe the incidents are related and the investigation into the connection is ongoing.
