Columbus Homicide Unit detectives charged Bruce Newby with murder in the shooting death of a 32-year-old man in the parking lot of a North Linden club on Jan. 13, Sgt. James Marable said.

Police say Billy White was out celebrating his birthday with friends at the Next Level Lounge in the 1300 block of S. Officers responding to the report about the fight and a shooting found White, who was pronounced dead later at Mount Carmel East Hospital; a 65-year-old woman, who also taken to Mount Carmel East in stable condition, and a 31-year-old man drove himself to Grant Medical Center to be treated for a gunshot wound.

This was the sixth homicide of the year in Columbus, Marable said.
