SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Brett Baty’s two-out third-inning grand slam kick-started the Syracuse offense and the Mets went on to beat the Clippers 6-4 in the opening game of a six-game series at NBT Bank Stadium Tuesday night.
The Clippers got on the board first with a solo home run by Johnathan Rodríguez but Baty erased that lead when he sent a 2-2 pitch from Jerad Eickhoff (1-3) 401 feet into right center field.
The Clippers cut the lead to 4-3 in the fifth inning but Baty hit an RBI double and then scored the game-s final run in the sixth.
Raynel Delgado hit a solo homer for Columbus in the ninth inning.
David Griffin (2-4) got the win.
