Mud Hens 10, Clippers 7

TOLEDO – Colt Keith hit a tie-breaking two-run home run and the Toledo Mud Hens went on to beat the Clippers 10-7 in a back-and-forth game at Fifth Third Field Saturday night.

After falling behind 2-0, the Mud Hens battled back to take a 5-2 lead in the third inning on back-to-back homers by Wenceel Perez and Eddys Leonard off Columbus starter Zach Plesac, who gave up seven runs in 5 2/3 innings.

The Clippers reclaimed the lead an inning later on Chris Roller’s RBI double and a two-run homer by Johnathan Rodríguez, his second home run of the game.

Joe Rizzo tied the score at 7 with a two-run homer in the sixth and Keith put Toledo in front to stay when he took a 1-1 pitch from Amir Garrett (0-1) deep to right field.

Sam Clay (6-3) pitched two shutout innings for the win and Miguel Diaz picked up his 13th save.

The Clippers will try to salvage a split in the six-game series Sunday afternoon.
