COLUMBUS – Franklin County sheriff’s deputies staking out a murder suspect ended up shooting the man to death Tuesday night.
According to the Sheriff’s Office Twitter feed, SWAT deputies were conducting surveillance on the man, who was a suspect in a May 31 double homicide, at a Sunoco gas station near the intersection of Stelzer and Agler roads on the Northeast Side when they aired an officer-in-trouble call at approximately 7:00 p.m., sheriff’s office officials said.
Shots were fired and the man was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:14 p.m.
A weapon was recovered from the suspect, authorities said.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is investigating the incident, authorities said.
