COLUMBUS – Organizers of Pelotonia are pleased: The fund-raising community brought in more than $21.8 million in 2022, surpassing the 2021 total by more than 10% and bringing the total amount of money raised since 2008 to $258 million.
The organization dedicated to accelerating funding for innovative cancer research directs 100% of its funds to The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute.
“Efforts like Pelotonia are crucial to closing the funding gap and advancing the future of cancer care, research and treatment,” Dr. Raphael Pollock, the center’s director, said.
Pollock cited a new Proton Therapy Center at the James and the Pelotonia Institute of Immuno-Oncology as examples of programs for which Pelotonia has provided key funding.
“Pelotonia support is, and will continue to be, critical to these efforts,” he said.
“Surpassing a quarter of a billion dollars in funds raised is nothing short of extraordinary. We’re incredibly proud of the commitment the Pelotonia community has shown this year and their excitement to continue this momentum in 2023 for Pelotonia’s 15th anniversary,” Pelotonia CEO Doug Ulman said.
Pelotonia’s 2023 Ride Weekend cycling event, a centerpiece of its year-round fundraising efforts, is scheduled for August 4-6.
