COLUMBUS – Investigators believe robbery was the motive behind a triple shooting on the West Side early Monday that left a man dead.
UPDATE: On April 21, at 6:03 p.m., Mohamed Mohamed succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at Mt. Carlmel West hospital, Columbus police said. He is the 39th homicide victim in Columbus in 2017.

Omar Abdulkadir Ali was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting in the 800 block of Wedgewood Drive while Mohammed Deq and Ali Abdulkadir Ali were taken to Mt. Carmel West Medical Center in critical condition, said Sgt. Jeff Strayer of the Columbus police homicide unit.
Officers called to the area on the report of a shooting near a vehicle parked in the street found Omar Ali, 25, seated in the vehicle, unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound, Strayer said.
Ali Ali, 23, and Deq, 22, were also found shot just outside the vehicle, he said.
A witness told police that the three men were from the Rochester, N.Y., area and had been visiting a friend who lived in the neighborhood, Strayer said.
Other accounts lead investigators to believe the motive for the incident was an attempted robbery, he said.
The investigation continues.
This is the 37th homicide of 2017 in Columbus.
