Suspect in teen’s 2020 murder arrested

COLUMBUS – Police have made an arrest in the slaying of a 14-year-old girl on the Fourth of July nearly two years ago.

Michael Green, 18, has been charged with murder, discharging a firearm into a habitation and seven counts of felony assault for shooting into a home in the 1000 block of Vesta Avenue, injuring Indiah Corley, who died seven days later, Sgt. James Marable of the homicide unit said.

Green has been charged as a juvenile because he was 16 at the time of the incident, Marable said.

Two boys, age 14 and 17, were also injured in the shooting.

UPDATE 3/16/22 7:30 a.m.: Police have filed additional charges against Jesus Armando Tajeda-Castro in an unrelated incident.

An 18-year-old man was arrested on March 10 after attempting to flee from officers is facing additional charges.

Jesus Armando Tajeda-Castro was already charged with murder in the fatal shooting of Marshawn Davis, 18, in the 2400 Block of E Dublin-Granville Road on Feb. 18, Sgt. Edward Powell III of the homicide unit said.

Tajedo-Castro has also now been charged with felonious assault in a March 6 shooting in the 2400 block of Cleveland Avenue that injured two men, Powell said.

Woman killed in multiple shooting

One woman was killed and three other people were injured when a fight at a Northeast Side bar turned deadly early Friday morning.

Police say an altercation inside Podunk’s Bar, in the 1600 block of E. Dublin-Granville Road, spilled out into the parking lot, where shots were fired just after 1:45 a.m., Sgt. David Shimberg of the homicide unit said.

A woman and two men were taken to area hospitals where the woman, whose name has not been released, died at 2:56 a.m. This was the 22nd homicide of the year in Columbus.

A 33-year-old man injured in the shooting was not expected to survive, while a 47-year-old man was in stable but critical condition, Shimberg said. A 34-year-old man was expected to recover from his injuries.

One dead in double shooting

Police are looking for whoever fired the gunshots that killed an 18-year-old man and left another man injured on the Northeast Side Friday afternoon, Powell said.

Officers arrived at scene of a reported shooting in the area of McCutcheon Road and Merwin Hill Drive at approximately 12:03 p.m. and Chaz Daryl Fleming suffering from a gunshot wound, the 23rd homicide victim of the year.

Fleming was pronounced dead at the scene while a 20-year-old man transported himself to Grant Medical Center where Powell says he was treated for a gunshot wound and was listed in stable condition.

Two girls, age 15 and 17, and a 17-year-old boy who were in a vehicle with Fleming were not injured, Powell said.
