1487 Brewery returns

Qfm96 welcomed the return of 1487 Brewery for an I’d Tap That edition of the Joe Show Drive at 5. CEO, Ben King, and Head Brewer, George Newbrough caught up with Archie about how life at the brewery has taken off since their last visit. Ben revisited the origin of the Bavarian inspired brewery. The brewery has also grown to include a scratch kitchen featuring fresh, local ingredients, a food truck, and plenty of space to host your next event – from baby showers to birthday parties, corporate happy hours, reunions, and wedding rehearsal dinners! They’ve even got a Biergarten featuring a firpit, umbrellas, pavilion with lounge area, TV’s, heaters, & fans. PLUS the Biergarten is completely DOG FRIENDLY to leashed and well-behaved pups!

Fun Fact: 1487 Brewery uses traditional Bavarian ingredients to brew their beers. Most of the beers they brew only have four ingredients and their recipes follow the Bavarian beer purity law known as the “Reinheitsgebot,” stating – from all the way back in 1487 in Munich – that brewers could only use water, malt and hops to brew their beer. Today the brewery follows this purity law along with brewing, adding yeast and techniques with a modern American twist.

Ben and George brought four different beers to sample including their Helles – a light bodied German lager that’s crisp, clean, and refreshing; Hefeweizen – flavors of banana, bubble gum, and a hint of clove shine through in this traditional German wheat ale; King’s Bane – named after Ben for his dislike of IPAs, this New England IPA boasts tropical and tangerine notes from citra, mosaic, and amarillo hops, and finally Altbier – a light/medium bodied German amber ale with mild caramel malt character. It has a slightly sweet taste up front followed by a crisp finish. Guests can try all the beers sampled on I’d Tap That at the brewery. But, no visit to the Qfm96 studio would be complete without a sample from the kitchen. So the guys brought German street tacos and a house made quinoa salad which are both available to try for dine-in or carry out. Check out the full 1487 Brewery menu here.
