“We always order EVERYTHING on the Record Store Day list,” said Used Kids Records owner, Greg Hall. “Everything. And we order as much as the Record Store Day distributors will send us. Every time RSD arrives, it’s a bigger and bigger affair. This one’s gonna be the biggest one yet.”
This installment of the biannual RSD event features more than 350 specialty and limited-edition pressings. No matter your jam, there’s a must-have release somewhere on the expansive list of titles. That’s why, when the shop’s doors open at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 18th, RSD devotees will have been in line all night to be the first people to nab copies of limited-edition records, CDs, and cassettes.
“We like to think of the entire event as a celebration of music, community, and camaraderie,” Hall said. “We always try to make it fun and comfortable for everyone in line. And when the doors actually open, we’re pros at moving people through the store quickly and safely. There’s always so much cool stuff to get into the hands of the people. It’s always as fun for our customers as it is for my staff and me.”

Established in 1986 in Columbus, Ohio, and 100% independently operated, Used Kids Records is a bona fide Midwest institution and a cultural beacon for music lovers of all ages and tastes. UKR offers the deepest selection of new and used vinyl, CDs and cassettes in Central Ohio. Our shop is the place to dig for days, hang out with friends and discover something new or pick up an old favorite. You can also catch a great-sounding live show from our in-house stage. From the Supersuckers, Yo La Tengo, and the Black Keys to Joe Walsh and Nancy Wilson (Heart), our shop has hosted hundreds of musicians over the years. We’ve also booked a bevy of local, regional and international acts throughout Columbus’ clubs. Recents have included Nashville Pussy, Des Demonas, the Darts, Cardiel, Service, and more.
USED KIDS RECORDS CHARITABLE ENDEAVORS
Over the years, we’ve created many opportunities to raise thousands of dollars for the Mid-Ohio Food Collective. Our main annual event is the punk-rock Xmas throwdown, Figgy Fest. We also love to support local and touring artists’ charity causes, such as raising thousands of dollars for VetsAid with Joe Walsh and City of Hope with the Supersuckers.

Greg Hall, who lives and breathes music, was born for this. A former college deejay, he worked his way toward an Ohio State degree in English while toiling at School Kids Records (Used Kids’ sister store). After a life in various other professional media and entertainment sectors, Hall bought Used Kids in 2014 and moved the campus mainstay to nearby Hudson and Summit in 2016.Today, Hall’s shop is a magnet for Central Ohio music fans and an internationally known hunting spot for record collectors and music fans from around the world.

2026, the year of our musical lord, marks the 40th anniversary of Used Kids Records (UKR)! We’re celebrating all year long! Listening parties to the max. Mega marquee in-store performances. Super-cool special events. And the crown jewel is UKR40 Anniversary Bash, a series of shows in September that will feature a slew of top-shelf bands of various genres. Yes, this year, we’re going all out to bring the party to the people.
